I thought I wasn’t going to get to that many books this month, but I did. Somehow? I don’t even know. Here’s what I reviewed in October:
It’s funny, I love reading fiction, but for some reason I keep end up reading mostly nonfiction. It’s weird.
But what was my favorite this month? Rosalie Lightning and When Breath Becomes Air were good…but depressing as hell. I cried and I cried, dear God. I’d Rather Die was surprisingly practical and helpful. Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch in the Throat was the most brainless and entertaining. (A nice reprieve from the more melancholy choices.)
But I don’t know that I read anything that I absolutely fell in love with. I hope, in November, I read at least one “soul mate” book, you know? At least one book that resonates with me on a deeper level. Thankfully, I do have some promising fiction in my to-be-read list for next month: The Mare and All of Us and Everything. And some nonfiction gems (I hope), too. We’ll see.
I forgot about that book! I actually suggested it to my old book group (just a couple months ago), but then we moved. It’s going back on the to-be-read list.
